I got the worst case of sunburn this past week when I was out on the water. I was kayaking down one of our local rivers and the sun just sizzled my skin. I probably sped up the risk of skin cancer and I may have one hell of a weird tan, but all week I’ve been thinking--- If I was out on the pontoon boat, this wouldn’t have happened.
Why? Well, an upper deck does not just make a boat look good and more enjoyable; rather it keeps the sun off skin, for someone sitting on the lower deck. And for someone who will not admit they have fair skin, well, it is a good tool to have.
We’re serious about our product, we know the potential it has. We know if you invest in one, you are not just buying a deck for shade, but rather you are investing in fun. You are buying a tool we are hundred percent behind. A tool we know will provide great fun for the whole family, bring you closer on that date under the stars, and give you more boat capacity to enjoy the little activities like relaxing and fishing.
Don’t waste your time with a bimini canopy that you’ll have to replace in a year or two, if you are looking for sun shade. Get a tool that’s sturdy, last awhile, and has more potential. An upper deck for your pontoon boat is the right choice, and J’s Upper Deck do it yourself kit is the perfect custom fit for your pontoon boat.
Your pontoon boat deck is sensitive to weather damage. With hurricanes in the east and monsoon storms in the southwest, the rain will threaten to rot the wood on your deck. Or soak into the wood on your seats. A bimini canopy can help protect from rain but is it good at protecting against rotting wood? We know that it is a long stretch to say yes or no. However, it is true that weather damage will reduce the longevity of a bimini canopy. That is one disadvantage of having a cloth top like a bimini canopy.
Now you can say, who goes out on the lake on a rainy day? No one. however what do you do when when a sudden summer storm rolls in and destroys your clear day out on the lake… because it happens. Especially with the dramatic weather changes we have had in recent years.
So what can you do to protect your wood on your pontoon deck? Or even the carpet and seats? Easy, get an upper deck. Our upper deck frames are water proof because they are made with aluminum. They keep seats dry and they keep the sun from fading any upholstery. An upper deck is truly a roof that will protect any pontoon boat deck from rain, sun, or any random weather disaster this summer like hail.
Think of j’s upper deck like a fancy umbrella that will keep you, and your boat dry this summer and future summers to come!
If you noticed on our pricing page, we sell both sun decks and upper decks. They look a lot alike, but there is a difference between the two products. A lot of people have been asking what the differences are, so, let's take a look:
That is the difference between an upper deck and a sun deck. If you are looking at adding an upper deck for your pontoon boat and have a question, feel free to drop us a line and ask. We'll get right back to you with an answer.
We talk a lot about what one can do with an upper deck and why every pontoon boat owner should invest in one. But, what is an upper deck?
An upper deck is not a bimini canopy, nor is it a regular sun shade. It is not a sun deck per say, and it is not a roof.
An upper deck actually
